Getting Started

At the Center for Emotion Regulation & Wellness we believe the best and most effective treatment is the one that is tailored to fit you.  Please read about our four-step treatment process to learn more about how we take the best treatments and apply them to meet your needs.

STEP ONE: Initial Contact

1.        Call to schedule first session*

2.      Print out and complete forms

STEP TWO: Assessment

In the first few sessions we will develop an understanding of your current difficulties (symptoms and problems) and identify your goals for treatment (i.e., what you’d like to get out of treatment). Next, we will identify the specific factors that are getting in the way of your goals.   Based on this assessment, we will provide you with an individualized treatment plan that utilizes an evidence-based therapy to target these factors.  This allows us to ensure that treatment will help you in the ways that you want and need to be helped.

STEP THREE: Ongoing Therapy

We will collaborate to decide on initial number of sessions, which can range from 5-50 meetings.  Over the course of therapy, we may ask you to provide feedback, either informally or through a questionnaire so that we can gauge whether or not therapy is helping.

STEP FOUR: Maintenance and Termination

After you have reached your goals in therapy and learned new skills to help you live the life you want to live, we will reduce the frequency of our sessions and decide together when to end therapy.  We are here to provide ongoing support AND we believe that every person has the capacity to function effectively without the ongoing assistance of therapy. How and when we decide to make that transition will be individualized to each client.
